In life detours are inevitable.
Remember that project, those classes, or new business that you started? You were so full of energy and creativity when you started.
Then as time ticked away, suddenly one day you get laid off from work and immediately you were forced into “survival mode.” [Detour #1] Any thoughts of finishing the project or reopening another business venture get moved to the back burner.
Then months or even years later things are going great. With a new job and no present crisis looming, there comes a surge of energy. You are inspired to give your “project” a second chance.
Then it happens, you or a family member gets ill. [Detour #2] Again, priorities are shifted and you quit, AGAIN!
But guess what? Just because you quit once or even twice…….NEWSFLASH: You can make a decision to begin again.
Detours are what we have to take when roadblocks or circumstantial delays keep us from going the preferred route.
Even though the detour route will most likely take a little longer, the end result is still the same. If you follow the detour you will still end up at your destination as long as you keep moving forward.
If you choose to stop moving then you will never arrive at your destination.
Take a moment and think of your GPS device. When you put in the address of your destination, even if you make a wrong turn or miss your exit it will recalculate your route. The GPS device’s ultimate goal is to get you to your intended destination, even if it means taking a different route.
Just like GPS, God truly desires to see you arrive at your DESTINY-nation (destination).
- When life happens to us, the Father patiently recalculates our route.
- When we quit pursuing our destiny, He recalculates our route.
- When we quit working on an assignment that He has called us to do, then He recalculates our route.
So in the end, we still end up where we’re supposed to be, and thats smack dab in the center of His will.
Then you can hear those famous words: “Congratulations, you have arrived at your destination!”
