I sat down today, and really thought about something.
We are too serious about life.
God did not intend for us to be stressed out, anxious, or worried about anything! However, that used to describe me in a place that I will call B.C. (Before Christ).
I was stressed out.
I was anxious.
I was worried.
Life as I knew it was unbearable. I was literally in the “dark ages.”
All I kept thinking was how much ….
I hated my job.
I hated my past.
I hated my life.
All the anger came as a result of the hate I had towards myself. I felt trapped in a life that was controlling me, instead of me being in control of my life. I didn’t realize that “life” is actually uncontrollable.
Basically, we only have control over the choices we make. Once you make a certain choice the rest of your life story is…….to be continued.
There is one thing we will NEVER have control over.
Ready for this NEWSFLASH
You will NEVER have control of other people or the choices they make. Period.
~Briefly pause & allow that to sink in~
Now I’ll fast forward to the place I am now. (Thank You, Jesus!!!)
I will fondly call it A.C. (After Christ).
Once I found Christ I realized that the things, people, or situations which I was stressed, anxious, or worried about — I COULD NOT control. I was making a choice to FOCUS on all these negative emotions, which made me angry.
I was angry, because I couldn’t change other people, situations, or circumstances. So I was making my life miserable, all at my expense.
However, one day I found freedom when I read this scripture……
(and I love it in the Message translation)
Philippians 4:8-9 “Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”
WOW…..Paul in this letter tells us:
1st: What we need to be thinking.
2nd: What we need to do.
3rd: Leave the results up to God.
In the END, God will make everything work out together. Trust me…He will.
